I've visited Mestizas twice now, each visit has been pleasant. The staff is attentive and polite, and they always make sure the guest has everything they need. The food is delivered promptly to the table, and you can tell they use fresh ingredients with their meals. I don't eat meat, and the owner personally explained all of their vegetarian opens, and how they avoid using meat based products in items such as beans, oils, etc. I personally find this professional and considerate. Overall, the flavor of the food is good, and I will definitely be back. With all the Mexican restaurants in town, this small place is definitely one of my favorites.

I really wanted to love this place. The lighted sign that said Gyro's should have been an indicator. We went in and were promptly directed to the dinning room to be seated. Immediately we were attended. I LOVED this. I eat out because service is key. We ordered, they brought out some salsa and chips (complimentary) the salsa was a bit runny could have used a hair more texture, flavor was just ok. We ordered our entree's my better half ordered the special, 3 beef tacos, white rice and beans. The rice and beans were very good the rest was blah. I ordered the chile relleno and I have only had this in the states and it was disappointing. it wasn't creamy but chunky in the inside, lacked flavor. My plate was blah. I asked for hot sauce and they gave me bottled manufactured stuff. Another waitress followed up with us and asked me if i wanted homemade green salsa I said YES! and she brought me over some super spicy green "sauce" although it was very small diced onions and such not a salsa. I wanted to love this place but I didn't. The service was 5 stars, the food 2. I would maybe come back and try the cuban menu but after spending $27 on two entrees, no drinks, no apps but including tip I doubt I will ever return. Personally, I would say if you try the cuban menu steer clear of the mexican food.

Just came here during our spring break trip. Service was quick, drinks never went empty, food was well priced and with great portions. A great place to go if you're in the area and in the mood for Mexican food!

EAT HERE! Best Mexican food in the area, we love it. Today is about sixth time, has the carne asada tacos special and empanadas. The lively one ordered extra plantains - sweet, a little crunchy, delicious!

This is not a good place if you're looking for authentic Mexican food, and the salsa is as tomato bland as you can get. Oddly enough, they make a pretty good gyro. There's nothing particularly bad about the place or the food, but nothing stands out either. Unless you like Cuban food (I do not). The Cuban part of the menu might be awesome, but I don't really know. The staff is attentive and friendly.

Staff is very friendly and it's the freshest food Mexican/Cuban food in town! Don't forget to try the deep friend Oreos!

The food was good, service was fast and prices reasonable. I ordered chicken nachos as an appetizer which was ok...nothing to run home about. I also ordered the carne asado which was really great! The carne adaso was seasoned very well. I recommend that dish if you visit here!

Amazing so many choices we came here with 6 and nobody had ever tried Cuban food, so only two of us did but it was great. Highly recommend this little in size restaurant but huge in flavor.

This is the first Yelp review I've ever written - I have to rave about this place! My mother and I are visiting Daytona for the first time and chose to eat here on a whim. We were promptly served warm tortilla chips and fresh salsa, which were replenished when we gobbled up the first batch. The server was very helpful in explaining the difference between plantains and tostones. My mom had the Lechon Asado and I had the Palomilla Steak, both off of the Cuban menu. Both dishes were simple and amazing. This is some of the best prepared meat I've tasted! The plantains were gooey, sweet and delicious, and the tostones came with an incredible garlic dipping sauce. We finished off the meal with chocolate flan, and the whole thing was less than $30. Go!

This place is amazing; easily the best Cuban and Mexican food in Daytona. I come at least once a week, and haven't had a bad meal yet. The owner is always there cooking, and is super friendly and nice. I take everyone here.

Nice people. Chips and salsa are served as soon as you sit down/ We came after the lunch rush and the food seemed a bit dry. I had the chile relleno and my husband had the carne asada. Our friend had the fajitas and they seemed down right overcooked. The place was clean and if I was in a pinch I would come again.
